The company was founded in 2008 as Oxford Technology Ventures in New York City. We expanded in 2013 to San Francisco, CA. The Oxford name was chosen because the founder, Beverly, attended Oxford University for her Executive MBA and formed initial partnerships with the Swiss-based Oxford Capital Consulting group and other Oxford-based colleagues. The company is a US-based LLC with no other affiliation with Oxford University. Oxford University was also an early client.
Our specialist team currently covers both New York City and San Francisco, CA. We're highly-educated and trained business, product and UX specialists who bring creativity, critical thinking, sharp analytical ability and technical expertise to any challenge.
about the principal
Beverly May is the founder and principal. Beverly started designing websites in the 1990′s and has core expertise spanning strategy, technical product development and management, startup management, user experience and usability. Aside from Beverly's involvement in Oxford Tech + UX and the UX Awards, Beverly has also served as the acting President of NYC-CHI since 2009, NYC's largest and oldest UX group, with 1900 members.
Beverly began her career by founding a successful music event production company and music magazine in Toronto, Canada while in undergrad. She then became a web designer-developer, first helping to found one of Canada's first digital agencies and then working at Canada's first Internet incubator, as well as a professional writer on digital culture and trends.
Since then, Beverly has helped conceive, upgrade or launch hundreds of digital products and services at Oxford Tech +UX, digital agencies, startups, software shops, media companies and the IT arm of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations at the United Nations. Since 2014, Beverly and Oxford Tech have increasingly transitioned into business advisory and training. Training, supplementing and empowering internal teams with the right knowledge, capacity and skills is ultimately the key to success at any organization.
Beverly has an Executive MBA from the University of Oxford, a technology Master's degree in systems design and new media from New York University, and a BA with high distinction from the University of Toronto, Canada. She is a triple US-UK-Canadian citizen who currently divides her time between NYC and San Francisco.
