In 2011, Oxford Tech + UX embarked on designing, developing and launching an ambitious startup product in addition to major client work– an advanced automated scheduling & matchmaking service for dating. To date, there is still no service like MiniDates on the market that auto-schedules dates for busy professionals with their compatible matches, all through a simple mobile web app. Members get sent proposed dates by text; they review each one and simply accept, decline or reschedule.
Oxford Tech + UX researched, developed and launched MiniDates in part, to stay abreast of the latest tech trends in Lean Startup customer development as well as Agile and HTML5 software and mobile app development so that we could best advise our clients on process as well as mobile, location based and social initiatives.
MiniDates was launched in 2012 in New York City to early acclaim, with a waiting list of over 5000 at launch. We received a writeup in TechCrunch and won several pitch awards. We continued to make several important feature updates, including a new matcher upgrade to allow MiniDates to scale at a nationwide level. Watch the case study to see just some of the phases of the project.
MiniDates is now closed to new registrants. We learned a ton from producing MiniDates– valuable lessons that have direct application and benefit for our clients. We are also proud of our accomplishments in designing, developing, launching, pitching, marketing and iterating sophisticated proprietary matching software.
